Welcome to my Piano studio! My Policies are designed to ensure that the studio remains a comfortable, professional, and safe environment for students and families. Please review this document and the general guidelines below.
Registration: To register for lessons please contact me to schedule a trial lesson. During this consultation we will discuss your goals, expectations, and asses what materials and style of lesson structure will best fit each student’s personality and interests. All first trial lessons are free.
Tuition: Tuition for lessons is due on the first lesson of each month and covers all lesson dates that fall within that month. I accept payment by cash, check, or online payment through Venmo or Zelle. I offer 30min, 45min, and 60min weekly class schedules. Lessons are scheduled according to student and instructor availability and held weekly at the same day and time.
Lesson rates:
30-minute classes: Monthly fee of 200
45-minute classes: Monthly fee of 300
60-minute classes: Monthly fee of 400
It is important to note that the fees remain the same even during months with a fifth week. For example, if a student takes one 30-minute lesson per week, the monthly fee would be 200 regardless of whether there are four or five lesson days in the month.
Adherence to the payment schedule is vital to ensure that the studio can continue to operate smoothly. If payment is more than 7 days late a 20 late fee will be added to the bill. Failure to pay within two weeks of the start of the month will result in a hold being placed upon that students’ classes.
I value all of my students’ education and understand the importance of taking breaks to recharge and rejuvenate. Therefore, I have implemented the following holiday schedule during which the studio will be closed.
● One week off during the school summer holiday: The specific dates will be communicated to all students and parents at least one month in advance.
● Three days off for the Thanksgiving holiday. The specific dates will be communicated to all students and parents at least one month in advance
One week off the last week of December. The studio will be closed for one week during the last week of December, which includes the Christmas holiday. The specific dates will be communicated to all students and parents at least one month in advance.
One week off the first week of January: The studio will be closed for one week during the first week of January. The specific dates will be communicated to all students and parents at least one month in advance.
Please note that tuition rates remain at their usual flat fee during these holiday weeks due to the school’s policy to offer any months with an additional fifth lesson day at no additional charge throughout the year. Please also note that the holiday schedule will be informed by the largest local school districts' holiday schedule. I believe that this policy offers flexibility and fairness to students, families, and teachers.
Monday Holidays: For classes that fall upon a Monday please note that the music school observes and will be closed on the following:
● Memorial Day (the last Monday of May)
● Labor Day (the first Monday of September)
The music school will remain open and operational with usual class schedules for all other Monday Holidays.
I encourage all students to use these breaks as an opportunity to practice, reflect, and recharge. I also recommend that students schedule their lessons in advance to ensure continuity in their musical education.
Cancellation and Rescheduling: I understand that life happens, and sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, except in the case of illness or emergency to be eligible for a makeup class. If you provide less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged for the lesson without the option for a makeup class. Lessons missed due to illness or emergency can be rescheduled, subject to teacher availability. Please also note that students will be sent home if they are sick with contagious symptoms.
Makeup Lessons: I understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to miss a lesson. In this case, I offer one makeup lesson per month for students who
provide at least 24 hours’ notice of the absence. Makeup lessons must be scheduled within 90 calendar days of the missed lesson and cannot be guaranteed as they are subject to teacher availability. However, every effort will be made to accommodate makeup lessons whenever possible.
If a teacher must cancel a lesson, a makeup class or a refund will be issued within 30 days of the missed class.
Studio Etiquette: The safety of students and staff is my top priority. I strive to maintain a professional and respectful environment for all students and staff. I ask that all students and families follow the below guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy working and learning environment.
v Please arrive on time for your lessons. If you arrive late, it is not possible to add additional time to your lesson due to other students’ lessons.
v Please refrain from eating, drinking, or chewing gum during lessons
v Please clean hands before your lesson
v Please be respectful of other students’ lesson times and avoid loud talking or disruptive behavior in the waiting area
v Please do not bring pets to class unless they are designated service animals
v Please do not bring unaccompanied siblings under the age of 10 to the studio lesson v Please notify us if you or your child has been exposed to or are sick with a contagious illness
v Please understand that sometimes a teacher gets carried away teaching a lesson and they run late due to finishing another students’ class. In this situation the teacher will ensure that you get the full allotment of your lesson time
Termination: I politely request the curtesy of at least 2 weeks-notice of a student’s desire to end regular classes before the start of a new billing month. All requests to end class contracts will be handled courteously and expeditiously. I encourage an open and active dialogue. If you are experiencing frustrations with billing, scheduling, lessons, or practicing progress please come to me with your concerns. It is my mission to provide support and guidance for all students in and outside of the class time in all aspects of their musical journey. Music lessons and education go beyond the weekly class time!
I reserve the right to terminate lessons for any student who consistently violates my policies, is disruptive or disrespectful to staff or other students, or who poses a safety risk to themselves or others.
Thank you for choosing us for your musical journey and education. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation in implementing these policies. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to working with you and exploring the joys of music and learning.
